Being "out there".

I've been a little apprehensive about "making myself known" on the World Wide Web... however, seeing how useful and effective being "out there" can be has been quite eye-opening.  I think using Twitter to connect with other teachers, school boards, principals, etcetera, etcetera is such a great resource - I feel like I am really connected to what is going on in the education field by seeing little snip-its of information show up in my news feed, and then I'm able to forward that information on by re-Tweeting it!  It's fabulous.

Having a blog to spew my thoughts out on things has been great too, although I've been struggling about what to write about... Talking to my Tech teacher about that just a few minutes ago proved to be helpful as she mentioned that it can be difficult to feel like your thoughts and opinions are important enough to put on a blog, but once you get going it becomes easier.  Well, this is my effort!  We'll see how it goes.  :)

There ARE jobs available!

This morning at Brock University, Teacher Candidates (including myself) attended a presentation by the Ontario Teachers' Federation, and it was super informative and interesting to listen to all the resources and opportunities currently available to teachers, especially through ETFOSusan Swackhammer, the First VP of ETFO, was hilarious in her approach to informing us about all the great things the teaching profession and ETFO have to offer elementary teachers.  And most importantly she told us that YES! there are jobs coming available for new teachers!  As much as I have learned through my classes at Brock thus far, I can't wait to get out into the field again and learn through classroom experience.  Excited for the future!

Welcome!

Welcome to my first blog!  I'm looking forward to using this as a way to present my thoughts and opinions on the "world as I know it".  Having a place to call my own is exciting - a place to talk as little or as much as I want... and I'll probably tend to do more of the "much"!  Thanks for stopping by :)
